PROGRAM AND METHODOLOGY

At Dialogo you can choose to have your Portuguese classes in group of 9 students maximum or one-on-one.

If you prefer a group option, you may choose the program called BRAZIL WORKSHOP which takes place from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 12:30 (four 50-minute classes each day.  Break at 10:45) or the BRAZIL WORKSHOP PLUS which combines the Brazil Workshop program with two additional classes of 50 minutes each in the afternoon from 1:30 to 3:10

The classes are focused on conversation, though there will also be writing (10%), reading (10%) and grammar (30%) requirements.

Approximately 50% of class time is dedicated to speaking and understanding. Students also learn by listening to local music or by role-play of everyday situations. A variety of teaching methods make lessons fun, and an effective way to improve and intensify the language skills.

Minimum age for participation in the Portuguese courses is 18 years old and each group contains a minimum of one and maximum of nine students. If there is only one student in a group, the classes are reduced to two lessons a day. Classes are in Portuguese only, but all teachers can speak English, and some even speak other languages such as German, French, Spanish and Italian. Students should arrive on Saturday or Sunday for orientation before the program begins.
On Monday morning at 8:30, students will be interviewed at the school to determine placement in the course. This procedure will determine your appropriate group to begin the lessons at 9:00.

If you rather prefer the one-to-one classes, Dialogo offers the TOP SPEED INTENSIVE which consists of four one-to-one classes of 50 minutes each day, Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 12:30 (Break at 10:45), or the TOP SPEED PLUS where you'll receive six one-to-one classes of 50 minutes each day, Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 12:30 and from 1:30 to 3:10 (Break at 10:45)

The one-on-one classes have been specially designed to help students to achieve fluency on a professional level within a short period of time, or needs to prepare for any official language test.

   
The school also offers cultural classes in the afternoon including Samba and dance classes, Brazilian cookery and music and percussion. It's your choice to create your holiday schedule in terms of duration and content of the lessons.

In addition to formal lessons, the program is complimented by outside activities and excursions, presentations of videos and documentaries, field trips to parks, markets, museums, bike tours, group meetings at nearby bars or restaurants, and concerts.

Accommodation begins on Sunday and end on Saturday morning. Extra nights can be acquired if the student needs to arrive before Sunday or leave after Saturday. Double rooms can only be booked by two people travelling together, which means that clients cannot book one half of a double room.

HOST FAMILIES
Host families allow the student to directly sample the Bahian way of life through day to day contact with Brazilians. To make it easier for us to find the right family for you, please fill out the form giving as much information and preferences as possible.

Students that stay with a host family may have the option of half board . As not all families accept this, please inform of your request in advance.


GUEST HOUSE
The guesthouse offers simple and cheap accommodation near the historic center. It´s perfect for young people or backpackers who like to be close to the best nightlife in town. It takes the students 20 to 30 minutes by bus to get to the school or to the beach.
