- Beautiful location the school is housed in a 250 year-old townhouse in the
very centre of historic York.

one-to-one courses, English for Business and Finance, and summer courses for adults and
juniors.

Most of the ELC's students stay with a local family - in 'Homestay'
accommodation. The family provides a study bedroom, and treats students as members of the
family. The centre also offers Executive Homestays, which provide everything that a
standard Homestay Provider offers but with a private en-suite bathroom. Besides, the
centre is happy to advise students who would prefer to organise their own accommodation in
a hotel, guesthouse or private rented apartment.
York is the cultural capital of the north of England, and is
an ideal place to learn English. This riverside city is one of the oldest in Britain,
founded by the Romans almost 2000 years ago. It has ancient city walls, beautiful historic
streets and many wonderful buildings including the world-famous York Minster, the largest
Medieval Gothic Cathedral in northern Europe.
