English Language School in Ireland

All year round,
the Dun Laoghaire Tuition Centre (DLTC) offers a range of full-time and part-time English
language courses for adults and teenagers who want to learn English in Ireland. The school
is located in Dun Laoghaire, one of the most beautiful and safest suburbs of Dublin
overlooking Dublin Bay. It is only 20 minutes from Dublin city centre and 20 minutes from
Co Wicklow, the picturesque garden of Ireland.
DLTC puts special emphasis on getting students to speak
English successfully. For this reason teachers give up to 50% of the general English class
time to speaking and conversation practice - about topics that matter to the student. The
other 50% of class time is devoted to grammar topics, reading and writing. The content of
private English courses may differ. To ensure students get good teacher attention and
every opportunity to practise their speaking, class sizes are kept small (no more than 11
participants per class, average 7/8). Courses are available at levels from Elementary to
Advanced. Student progress is monitored by teachers to make sure that students are
progressing - changes to levels can be made as student progress. There are varied options
to learn, from General English courses in group or private sessions to special programs,
such as Business English, junior programs, preparation for Cambridge exams or IELTS,
English & Job search programs, etc. Students are generally provided with course
materials to use during their English lessons. At the end of their course all
students are given a course certificate of attendance stating their level of English and
the length of the course (in hours).
All the English
language students are invited to a free weekly event. On Tuesday afternoons, the director
of the school will give a free lecture about Ireland, its history and its culture.
Alternatively, the school arranges for visits to a local bar, listen to some live Irish
music, or walks in the beautiful Irish countryside. All students are invited to Friday
midday coffee with the teachers at a local bar or café. Other services provided include
free computer, Internet and Wi-Fi access; tea, coffee and cold drinks during breaks, free
local information, cheap bus and train commuter tickets, and more. From time to time the
school organises additional acitivities and visits, which have included Irish dancing
nights, Irish pub music nights, Guinness factory tours, Newgrange tours, National Museum,
National Gallery and Chester Beatty library visits.
The DLTC can provide accommodation for students from the
following options: Host family homestay, Bed & Breakfast guesthouse and hotel. If
prefered, the school can also provide information to students on places to look for
private accommodation and employment.
