The English as a Second Language Program at the Middlesex County College provides intensive language study to English language students, who are non-native speakers and are not yet proficient in English. They can study English full-time at the beginning, intermediate or advanced level. Participants study in class for 14 to 17 hours per week including ESL labs. It is also possible to study in this program as a part-time student. It is necessary to take the placement exam, which is a written test that takes approximately two hours to complete. The oral interview tests student's speaking and listening abilities. The written test measures his/her grammar and writing abilities. Anyone whose first language is not English has to take this exam.
