MUN is located in St. John's, which is the capital of the Canadian province Newfoundland and Labrador. It offers a 12-week Intensive English Program 3 times per year and a 5-week English Language Summer School each July. In addition, English for Special Purposes and custom-designed courses are offered for groups. Students in the 12-week Intensive English Program (English for Academic Purposes) may apply for provisional admission to Memorial's degree programs.

Class sizes are small (no more than 18students), and are taught by highly-qualified instructors. ESL students may use all of the university facilities, which include an  university library, student centre, computer facilities and a multimedia language lab.
