Páramo, Academia de Español has been up and running in the city of Valladolid, the geographical and political centre of the region of Castilla y León, since 1988. Valladolid is historically a very important city and is laden with culture and famous monuments. The events related to the city include the marriage of the Catholic Monarchs, the life and death of Christopher Columbus and the birth of King Philip II and King Philip IV of Spain.   Since 1975, this private institution has kept to its standard of small groups: never more than six students per class.  The method used is based on communicative learning.

Páramo, Academia de Español also organizes extracurricular activities.  Each month, the school draws up the corresponding extracurricular activities programme, where it includes a variety of activities, such as Spanish film seasons (Pedro Almodóvar, Alejandro Amenábar, Julio Medem, etc.), Spanish music seasons (Ricky Martin, Joaquín Sabina, Manolo García, etc.), Café-Tertulia (on some days, everybody meets up in a cafeteria in the city to speak about current affairs or simply to enjoy each other’s company), wines and tapas, as Páramo is located in the city centre, in the best-known tapas area of Valladolid, teachers and students meet up to try some of the famous local wines (Ribera del Duero, Cigales, Rueda) with the tasty tapas that go with them.
