 CETLALIC, or the Centro Tlahuica de Lenguas e Intercambio Cultural, is a
small education centre, which offers Spanish language programs and special social justice
programs focusing on a variety of themes. It offers intensive classes at all levels,
year-round, as well as several Special Programs every year focused on a particular issue
or area of interest, which often include travel in the region. The centre welcomes all
students irrespective of nationality, ethnic origin, race, gender, sexual preference, or
age.
CETLALIC offers a demanding Spanish
language immersion program, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Spanish classes
never exceed five students. Aside the Spanish tuition, style discussions or speakers on a
variety of national & international social justice topics are organized frecuently. In
addition, the centre offers various activities related to Mexican culture throughout the
week such as videos, Mexican cooking classes, folk and Latin dance classes, participation
in Cuernavaca's local fiestas, excursions to museums, "pueblos," and pyramids in
and near Cuernavaca, and more. CETLALIC also offers private classes and
can structure individual study programs to suit particular professional, academic or
personal interests. It also organizes special programs for groups of 10 participants or
more.
An integral part of the study of the language
and culture at CETLALIC is the experience of living with a Mexican family. Living in a
Mexican home offers a unique perspective on the daily lives of the people, their food,
customs, and warm hospitality. For students who prefer more independent living
arrangements, they can ask for the centre's list of recommended Cuernavaca lodging
options.
