Instituto Asís
Spanish Language School in Costa Rica
Proyecto Asís is an
organization that runs a wildlife rescue center and has been working on social and
ecological projects in rural Costa Rica for the past 12 years. To support its projects,
the organization offers Spanish classes (at its Spanish Institute) and
Volunteer opportunities. Students may work and take care of
wild animals that need help, while learning Spanish through the total immersion programs
offered by the institute. They can also participate with a local recycling
co-operative.
Insituto Asís offers two
kind of Spanish programs. The first one is the he Regular Spanish Program, which is
designed to assure students' success in acquiring a new language. With this option
students will receive semi-private lessons 4 hours per day, thus allowing them enough free
time for other activities. At each level oral communication is emphasized. Grammar is
presented at the beginning of each session in a way that is easily understood. Classes begin any day Monday through Friday. The second type of Spanish
program is a combination, Spanish plus Volunteer Program. With this option,
Students choose how many weeks of each program they would like to take, depending on their
special interests and the lenght of their stay in Costa Rica.
All the Spanish Programs include: Home stay (including meals, laundry), materials and a final
certificate.
Insituto Asís also offers
Special Programs, such as Animal Sciences -a program focusing on acquiring Spanish skills
used in the areas of the dairy and beef cattle industries-, Family Programs (designed for
families who come together) and Group Programs (for groups of friends or co-workers).
