Spanish Language School in Costa Rica

Escuela Latina is located in Barva, a lively colonial town in the foothills of the Central Valley, just north of Heredia city. Though part of the metropolitan area, Barva retains it's original flavor, thus offering a much more authentic Latin American experience while providing the same conveniences and activities as a larger city. The church and central plaza have been declared a national historic monument and all of the buildings in the center of town, which are mostly adobe with red-tiled roofs from the 1700s, have been preserved by law.

Escuela Latina's approach to learning employs an intense immersion experience which includes small classes taught entirely in Spanish and homestays with Costa Rican families. Besides, as part of the tuition, many extra activities are included.  The Spanish lesson includes not only the many resources in the school, but also the local traditional markets, parks, museums, and other cultural resources. The program consists of four hours daily of Spanish lessons in classes with no more than 6 participants. The initial program lasts three months. It is divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Students may enter the program at any level and later continue on to specialized courses of literature, conversation, or a professional area of their choice.

Escuela Latina also has developed a volunteer program exclusively for its Spanish students.  Student volunteers may choose from a large range of volunteer opportunities that involve working with people or resources and take place in remote rural areas, in the heart of the city or anywhere in between.
