Spanish Language School in Costa Rica

Founded in 1994, Comunicare's objectives are to provide a cultural exchange through language teaching and to share information and accumulated experience with students, communities, and other social groups.  It is conveniently located in San Pedro Montes de Oca, a ten-minute walk from the University of Costa Rica and seven-minute bus ride to downtown San Jose . The proximity of a University campus to the quiet, residential area, where the center is located , is a significant advantage for students: cafes, libraries, restaurants and bookstores are close at hand.

Comunicare offers several Spanish Immersion Courses. The center provides specific courses designed for groups from colleges and high schools, according to their age-range. It also designs special immersion programs for Medical, tourist, and individual applicants.

The Spanish courses are organized into groups of five or six students and include Spanish socio/cultural elements, Central American Studies, Environmental courses or seminars . These are three-week or six-week courses, which allow the students to immerse themselves in the Spanish language, history, and culture in addition to living with a family and volunteering in the community . For students who desire one-on-one attention, private classes are also available. Students may decide to attend only private classes or combine them with group classes. Comunicare is  flexible as possible with the conditions of duration, dates or some activities of the program, according to the interest and possibilities of the students.

Homestay one of the most important parts of the Spanish immersion program. Careful placement of students helps to ensure a positive experience. Families are chosen based on their commitment to hospitality. However, students may seek alternative accommodations if after a few nights the family selected is suitable for them.
