Spanish Language School in Costa Rica

CPH is a private, independent language and cross-cultural school organized and administered by a staff of professionals with over 50 years of combined experience in designing and implementing training programs.  The school is located in Santa Ana, a suburb 5 miles southwest of Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose. It is a walkable community where students will have access to local artisans, a wide variety of restaurants, banks, shopping and internet cafes.

CPH is committed to maximizing each student’s communication competence in Spanish. It is flexible and adaptable as it provides a truly learner-centered language training program for every student, whether he/she is a college student, professional, or just always wanted to learn Spanish.  Students may choose to take a customized, (tailored) program or the three-week (intensive) immersion course. Students taking this three-week immersion course can receive college credit.  The customized programs begin every Monday and students choose the number of weeks or months of their programs.

CPH offers courses at every level from beginner to advanced.  There are normal four-hour class days and a more intensive six-hour day.  No matter how many hours the student chooses, all of the classes integrate cultural activities into classroom instruction, including salsa and merengue dancing, and preparing typical Costa Rican dishes.The average class size is very small. It has between three and four students in each group.

The school encourage all students to live with homestay families for the duration of the program, because staying with a family allows them to reach deeper into the culture and experience Costa Ricans’ lives from the inside.
