This page has been developed to get you the answers to questions you still might have. Please take a few minutes to read it, chances are you will find what you are looking for.  But, if you can't find what you need, please send us your question.  To do so, please use the contact form you will find at the bottom of this page.

What should I bring with me?
What is the dress code at the school?
Does the school offer Internet Service?
What about health?
When to schedule my program (2008)?
What if I need to cancel my program?
How do I get to Manuel Antonio?

What should I take  with me?
Important Documents, passport, credit card, driver’s license, traveler’s checks, $50-100 in cash ($10 in singles) for emergency money.  Don't forget to bring shorts, T-shirts and sandals, towels, 2 swimming suits, sunscreen and mosquito repellent, sunglasses, alarm clock, small flash light (important), small lock for backpack, umbrella and/or raincoat (Rainy season begins in May and continues through November. Generally it is sunny in the morning and rains in the afternoon), money belt

NOTE: Do not take personal checks with you.  They are very difficult to change.  You can pay for your tuition in U.S. dollars, Costa Rican colones, or Travelers Checks or credit cards.  Make copies of your important documents.  Keep a copy with you as well.  If your passport is lost, it will be easier to replace if you have a copy.

Travel light! Remember that traveling is always tough when you lug around large, bulky suitcases.

What is the dress code at the school?
Shorts, T-shirts and sandals are the daily dress code.  It is very informal. Leave all valuables, jewelry, etc., at home.

Does the school offer Internet Service?
"La Academia de Español D’Amore offers free high speed internet service at specific times of the day. We also offer wireless connections for those interested in bringing their laptops".

What about health?
Water is delicious in Quepos/Manuel Antonio.  It comes from the mountains and is also purified in Quepos.  Talk with your doctor or state health authority about the necessary shots before leaving (They usually have a chart with the appropriate vaccinations for the different countries & regions.)  In Costa Rica there is little problem.)

Prescription drugs can be found in most of Quepos pharmacies.  If you bring important drugs, please, put them in your carry-on luggage.  If your baggage gets on the wrong flight it may be difficult to find what you need in the meantime.

When to schedule my program (2008)?
Academia de Español D'Amore is open year-long except for the last two weeks of the calendar year and the following Costa Rican National Holidays:
- Holy Thursday and Friday (March 20, March 21st),
- Día de Juan Santa Maria (April 11),
- Labor Day (May 1),
- Anexión de Guanacaste (July 25),
- Mother's Day (August 15),
- Independence Day (September 15), and
- Culture Day (October 12).
Classes lost on these days can not be m
ade up.    In order to assure the highest quality education, it is suggested that the students accommodate their travel plans to begin the school on the following Mondays in 2008:

January 7, 21
February 4, 18
March 3, 31
April 7, 21
May 5, 19
June 2, 16, 30
July 7, 21
August 4, 18
September 1, 16, 29
October 13, 27
November 10, 24
December 8,
Students that enroll on other Mondays will be placed in an existing class.

What if I need to cancel my program?
A full refund of tuition and homestay is granted to students who request it in writing prior to the start of the program.
Students who enroll and begin the course are granted a 50% refund of remaining tuition alone if request is in writing by the first week.  No refunds are granted after the first week.

How do I get to Manuel Antonio?
The preferred method of the school is to meet you at the airport and to arrange transportation directly to Manuel Antonio. But of course, if your travel plans don't allow for that, or if you desire to strike out on your own, you will be provided with full information on how to get to the school.
