Spanish language school in Sosúa & Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

The Instituto Intercultural del Caribe (IIC) is the Spanish section of the German-Dominican Language and Culture Institute EDASE, founded in 1994. At IIC, language students can choose between two locations: One school is in the country's capital Santo Domingo, a Caribbean-style metropolis with more than 2.5 million inhabitants; the other school is on the north coast of the country in the small sea town of Sosua, famous for its beaches and variety of water sports activities. Students can also divide their courses between both locations.

General Spanish courses are organized in mini-groups (from 2 to 7 participants), in standard or intensive tuition, at all levels (from beginner to advanced), and are offered all year round.  Individual packages of private lessons are also available as well as a mix of group course and one-on-one tuition.

IIC also offers special courses.  Some of them combine Spanish instruction with sports or cultural activities, like Spanish + Scuba diving, Spanish + Wind/kite surfing or Spanish + Dancing.  In the other hand, the Travelling Classroom program offers a 2-week language round-trip through the country.  There are also DELE preparation courses and Immersion programs available upon request.  Upon successful completion of the course the students receive a certificate of participation.

The IIC student facilitator usually offers two or three activities/excursions per week for the students. In Santo Domingo, these are more cultural oriented, in Sosua more sport oriented. Due to the central location of Sosua there is a broad variety of half-day, whole-day or weekend excursions students could participate in.   Regarding accommodation, choices offered by IIC are:  School Studio Apartment (in Sousa), School Apartment (in Santo Domingo), Guest family (Santo Domingo), Apart-hotel, hotel (in both places).
