Founded in 1977, the APRE-French Institute of Montpellier offers intensive courses of French as a Foreign Language for students aged over 16, whether they intend to learn or just deepen their knowledge of the French language. These courses are combined with a wide range of activities. Students stay with a French family or in the University of Montpellier campus. On arrival, they take a placement test which will determine their level group : Elementary, Intermediate, or Advanced (Absolute beginners are not accepted), in order to be placed in their appropiate group.

The French Institute of Montpellier also offers specialized courses of French for teachers of French, whose aim is to refresh and update their teaching methods and material. These sessions are held in July and August, with a program of activities included.
