Insula Köln is a language school specialised in offering courses for German as a foreign language.  In its teaching method pure grammar exercises are minimized and teachers do not follow any commercial course book. Instead, all lessons are planned according to the specific needs of the students. The courses are organized in small groups (from 3 to 11 max.).

The cafeteria and balcony offer the students an area of recreation during the breaks. In the cafeteria students and teachers enjoy not only coffee, tea or soft drinks but also foreign language lecture. The notice-board in the foyer enables them to find language partnerships and from time to time the school offers certain events like showing films or cooking evenings in the cafeteria to give its students the possibility to practice their language skills in natural situations. Access for handicapped people is provided.

Insula Köln courses are intensive ( 4 lessons a day, 5 days a week) and reduced (2 lessons a day, 2 days a week), at different levels, from beginners. Students can take an onboarding test in order to be placed in a proper course.

If needed, the school can also help its students to find an accomodation in Cologne.
