The Centro Studi Italiani started its first courses in 1986. From the very beginning it has been an authorised educationall center for both international students as well as for Italian citizens. Students from over 90 different countries throughout the world have attended its courses. It is located in Urbania, a typical and attractive township, at 16 km. from Urbino, situated between the Adriatic sea and Tuscany.

The class groups are formed based upon the results of the entrance test and upon the total number of students. All the cultural subjects are included in the enrolment fees for the courses and they are divided in curriculum and optional subjects. The curriculum subjects (in the morning) are those which are designed to give basic cultural knowledge to all class groups. The optional subjects (in the afternoon) are designed to  look into individual interests and they can be attended by all who are interested. Some curriculum subjects are Topics of recent Italian events, Italian institutions, The Italian educational system, etc.   Some optional subjects include History of Italy, History of Italian Literature, Italian phiology, Italian musical culture, etc.

Besides the Italian language and culture courses, the centre also provides special courses, such the Preparatory courses for Universities, the Professional Courses, Italian for Business, Fine Arts special courses, courses for opera singers, etc.  The centre is also an authorized examination center for the diplomas "Firenze" (DELI, DILI, DALI, DALC).

The school takes care of finding accommodation for students and assists them during their stay.  Most common housing options are the furnished apartments and to stay with a host family.
