The University for Foreigners Perugia is the oldest Italian
institution involved in teaching and research activities as well as in the diffusion of
the Italian language and civilisation in all expressions. In 1927 the University for
Foreigners moved to its own premises, the Palazzo Gallenga situated in the center of the
city. Today, the University also occupies four smaller buildings.
The Italian Language and culture courses are divided into 3
stages: Beginner's, Intermediate and Advanced course, each of which has two levels.
There are also test preparation courses (the university offers worldwide examinations at
two levels of ability in order to assess the proficiency in Italian for Business purposes
-CIC- and in General Italian -CELI-). The University has five linguistic
laboratories which are used during the courses. Other audio-visual equipment can be found
in the classrooms, and is used during the lessons. There are two more computer
laboratories with 57 workstations connected in a network, with advanced application
software and access to internet.
The University for Foreigners of Perugia gives the students
the possibility to choose amongst a wide range of accommodations, such us independent
flat, flatlet and residence, single or double room in family or in hotel. On request, more
services are at student disposal (transfers, transport facilities, etc.).
Regarding social life, students can assist free of charge to
concerts, shows and other cultural events and can also exhibit their artistic talents. The
University organizes weekend trips to the most important cities and guided visits to
historical and artistic monuments of Perugia and Umbria. Besides, students of the
University for Foreigners can use the University Sport Centre of Perugia situated in via
Tuderte.
