The Accademia Lingua Italiana Assisi was founded in 1993. It is situated in the historic heart of the town centre, at 10 via Tiberio d'Assisi, a short distance from Piazza del Comune and in the vicinity of the Basilica of St. Francis and the Church of Santa Chiara. Its 14th century building was completely renovated in 2006, with a great sense of respect for the history of the building, in order to enhance the functional properties of the space. The classrooms and offices are accessible from a medieval courtyard which has been restored to its original splendor. All the classrooms have air conditioning and are equipped with quick internet and multimedia support systems. The second floor balcony boasts a panoramic view of the entire town and the Umbrian valley.

The Accademia Lingua Italiana Assisi organizes courses of Italian language and culture (Literature, Art, Music, etc.) open to foreigners and to Italians living abroad. The centre runs courses all year round; lessons take place from Monday to Friday; each class has a maximum number of 12 students, in a communicative-situational approach that, in a short time, enables students to speak fluent Italian. Besides, the school also offers individual lessons and other special courses, such as singing courses for professional singers, cooking and painting courses, preparation for CILS exam, and much more. The Accademia issues, at the end of each course, a certificate of attendance.

The Accademia organizes excursions and trips for the weekend, as well as many other services, like music room with piano for pianists and singers, a video library with classics of cinema and documentaries, e-mail service, library (Italian language textbooks and literary classics), etc. 

Also the Accademia will help its students to find a suitable accommodation in private houses, flats and hotels nearby.
