Gulf Arabic Programme
Arabic language school in Buraimi, Oman

Established in 2001, the Gulf Arabic Programme under the auspices of the Al Jazeel Administrative Training Institute provides Arabic lessons to people planning to work in the Arabian Gulf. With the Gulf Arabic Programme, students will learn the spoken Gulf dialect of Arabic with an emphasis on communicating with both fluency and accuracy.  They will also learn to read and write the Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).

The main office of the Gulf Arabic Programme is located in Buraimi in the Sultanate of Oman.  Buraimi is a residential town of some 50,000 people, situated close to the United Arab Emirates. In fact, it is far closer to major towns in the United Arab Emirates being approximately 100 miles (160km) east of Abu Dhabi.

The Gulf Arabic Programme offers full-time courses and an Intensive Summer Programme. The full-time course (four 18-week modules)  is designed to take-in students who know nothing of the Arabic language and equip them to become competent communicators able to live, work and build relationships within the medium of the Arabic language.  Non-beginners Arabic learners are also welcomed.  In addition to class instruction, students are also expected to spending time with local people and practising and preparing for classes. 

Every summer, the Gulf Arabic Programme also offers a one-month intensive course in colloquial Gulf Arabic.  This course takes place in July and it is designed for (almost) beginners.  Students must be able to read, write, pronounce and recognise the characters of the Arabic script before they arrive.   This course concentrates on the spoken Arabic, so no Modern Standard Arabic is taught during these sessions.

The Gulf Arabic Programme staff can assist students by meeting them on arrival in Buraimi and taking them to an appropriate hotel.   Other housing options in the area include private rental and standard hotels.
