Lithuanian Language Courses in Lithuania

The Vilnius University offers Summer courses designed to meet various needs and offer, including a training in Lithuanian language. The duration of the courses vary from one to four weeks and most of them are offered in the old campus of Vilnius University thus allowing the students to enjoy medieval courtyards and get glimpses of the Vilnius Old Town life during the breaks between the lectures and seminars.

Vilnius University offers two Lithuanian Summer courses: a two-week course and a four-week course.  During both courses, the students are taught in groups of different levels (beginners, intermediate and advanced). Students are allocated to intermediate or advanced level according to grouping test. Each group consists of 5 people at least and participants learn to speak, to write, to understand reading and listening texts.  Teachers use the communicative method of teaching and the language of teaching is Lithuanian (for total beginners explanations are made in English or Russian). There are 2-3 lectures every day. These lectures are offered in Lithuanian history, culture, political life, etc. The cultural programme is scheduled after the lectures and on weekends.

In addition to Summer courses, Vilnius University offers one-year courses, evening courses and free mover courses on Lithuanian Language, starting in February.  There are also Lithuanian Winter courses available.
