The main component of the Rocket
Japanese course are the Interactive Audio Lessons.
In total, Rocket Japanese has
31 interactive audio lessons which include the transcripts of the conversations in romaji,
Japanese characters, and English translation. Each track in the Rocket Japanese
Interactive Audio Course has an average of 25 minutes in length.
This is how it works:
The audio follows the narrator, a native English speaker and her native Japanese
speaking friend. The English speaker introduces the lesson and goes over concepts in the
lesson. The Japanese speaker speaks the Japanese parts. You are encouraged to say the
words or sentences after him aloud. Each lesson ends with the narrator asking you
questions. You are given time to say them aloud and then the Japanese speaker gives an
answer.
The second component are the grammar and culture
lessons.
Rocket Japanese includes 31 illustrated Grammar & Culture
Lessons (corresponding to each audio lesson). Available in easily
downloadable and attractive PDF format, the newsletters contain detailed grammar
lessons and examples; invaluable cultural notes (that not only help you with what to say
and when to say it but also how to act); along with instructions and explanations on
written Japanese, which doesn't have to be as complicated as you may think.
The third component is the MegaVocab
Software Game
MegaVocab is a software based game to help you with your vocabulary.
It has over 1,000 words and 20 topics. And you can also add 100's of your own
words and pictures including any specialized vocabulary list that you need to
know!
This is how the MegaVocab Software game
works:
You start off by selecting what you want to be tested on. You practice vocabulary from any
of the 20 specialized topics, which include Traveling, Food and
Wine, The Weather, and more. When you have selected what you want to be
tested on, press 'Start' and you will be shown a picture and the English word. Just select
the corresponding Japanese word from the 4 options given. If you get it right first time,
then you get the maximum points. You can continue guessing, with one less point for every
incorrect answer, until you get the right answer.
The fourth component
is the MegaAudio Software Game
This is a software base
game to help you with your understanding of spoken Japanese.
The program help you to recognize The sund of
tons of Japanese words with "MegaAudio"...
Similarly to the MegaVocab game, you select
the topics that you wish to be tested on. When you have selected your topic/s, press
'Start' and you will be shown 6 different pictures with the English word for the picture
underneath. The audio track will play the Japanese equivalent and you have to select the
correct picture.
The fifth component is the
MegaHiragana Software Game
MegaHiragana gives you a fantastic introduction to the
world of Japanese writing. Hiragana is one vital component of the Japanese writing system,
which is made up of three types of characters: hiragana, katakana and kanji. Hiragana
allows us to represent the sounds of the Japanese language and build words from them!
Here's how it works:
Just select GO! to get started. You will be shown a hiragana character and 4
multiple-choice options for the corresponding sound (written in romaji). When you click
the correct answer the audio for that character will be played.
Last but not least, students of Rocket
Japanese can participate on the Rocket Members Only Japanese Learner's Forum, where the
Rocket team of Japanese teachers, native speakers, and fellow enthusiasts will respond to
your specific needs... |
