Created by Fairfield Language Technologies in 1992, the Rosetta Stone language learning program is a software based solution for learning Latin through image association. No translation, no rote memorization and no grammar explanations.

The Rosetta Stone program teaches listening, reading, writing and speaking skills by utilizing a technique Rosetta Stone calls Dynamic Immersion. This method utilizes a combination of images, text, and sound to help you learn Latin intuitively, without drills or translation.

The name of this program as well as its logo are an allusion to the historical Rosetta Stone, a black basalt stele dating from the year 196 BC and discovered in 1799 in the small Egiptian village called el-Rashid (Rosetta). This old stone allowed linguists to begin the process of hieroglyph decipherment.
