Universidad VERITAS founded in 1991, is a private Art, Design and Architecture University in San José Costa Rica. There is an 1100 student population enrolled in 7 different Schools or Departaments and offers an Intensive Spanish & Culture program in 12 different courses. VERITAS has many international academic agreements with universities and educational agencies and hosts over 500 foreign students per year. The study abroad program is over 15 years old. Courses and degrees awarded by Universidad Veritas have been transferred to universities aroundnthe world. This includes credits or ECTS earned by study abroad students at International Programs Center (or CPI- Centro de Programas Internacionales).

VERITAS' intensive spanish and culture program offers 4-week intensive courses in Spanish grammar, conversation and composition (applied linguistics). There is also a special course of Spanish for Health Professions available, which can be booked in a 4 week structure or in independent study.The use of authentic and practical contexts facilitates the acquisition of vocabulary and grammatical structures.  Students are coached in the analysis of linguistic and extra-linguistic elements during the reading and writing practices.  The evaluation system in all Spanish courses integrates convergent (grammatical structures) and divergent (global use of language) techniques in test procedures.  All levels evaluate oral, listening, reading and writing assignments. There is a maximum of 10 students in each language acquisition course.

Students who wish to take other courses in Culture, International Business, Intercultural Communication, Environmental Sciences and Photography but don’t have an advanced level of Spanish can enroll in courses taught in English.  Advanced Spanish students can enroll side by side with Costa Rican students in Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, Digital Animation, Film, Cinema and T.V.,   and Photography. Several of the International Programs Department electives   are also taught in Spanish.
